A Mother’s Prayer

fullsizeoutput_2baaFacebook memories brought up the above two quotes from Sarah this week.  Both are funny but also reflective of her tender heart for the Lord and His truths, even from a very young age.

Shortly after I saw the memory for today, the song “A Mother’s Prayer” by Krystin Getty played and the Lord flooded my heart and mind with memory after memory leaving me in awe of His faithfulness.

My greatest desire in life from the time my first child was born has been to see my children know, love and faithfully follow the Lord.  As the song played I heard the echoes of the countless prayers I have prayed.  Prayers for Him to captivate their hearts, that they would be continually growing as women after His heart.  Prayers for Him to sanctify and transform me to reflect Him to them.  Prayers for Him to work in spite of my brokenness and failures, redeeming even those for their and my good and His glory.

The song prompted me to pull out some old prayer journals.  As I thumbed through page after page of prayers my heart was overwhelmed at how very faithful God has been to honor so many of them.

So I find myself writing a short and simple message this morning for those far too busy for a long one.  I am praying encouragement and steadfastness for those of you journeying behind me in the trenches this morning, diligently guiding and praying for tiny little children to grow to know and love Him.

Continue to cry out to Him and trust Him and His Word with every aspect of parenting, He is faithful.  I am confident as you continue to seek His face and intercede on their behalf, you, too, will one day find yourself sitting with aging journals reflecting on His faithfulness through the years.

“Come [and] hear, all who fear God, And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.  I cried to Him with my mouth, And He was extolled with my tongue.  If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear;  But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.  Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer Nor His lovingkindness from me.” Psalm 66:16-20 [NASB]
